Comcast ON DEMAND Popularity Soars

According to Comcast, television viewers are choosing to watch the shows they want on their schedules. This trend has fueled the growth of the company's signature video-on-demand service, which has now surpassed three billion program views since 2004, recently setiing a new monthly record for July, with customers watching 180 million ON DEMAND shows. With ON DEMAND views topping three billion, Comcast customers have made music videos and programs , children's shows, free movies and sports and fitness programs some of the most popular programming categories.

"Customer response to ON DEMAND over the past few years has been extraordinary," said Page Thompson, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Video Services for Comcast. "ON DEMAND is the ultimate viewing experience, and as more customers try the service and we continue expanding our content library with viewers' favorite shows from top networks and VOD-exclusive programs, we expect ON DEMAND use to continue climbing."

Comcast's ON DEMAND service offers a growing library of more than 7,500 programs per month. Approximately 95 percent of ON DEMAND programs are available at no additional charge for Comcast digital cable customers based on their service levels.

To help manage the growing number of viewing choices, Comcast also has launched TV Planner, an online program guide, on Comcast.net, the company's broadband portal. TV Planner integrates the search functionality to make it easier for customers sort through all of the ON DEMAND and TV programming options. Viewers can customize searches by title, category and genre to find the programming that best matches their interests.
