Product Description The D-Link ADSL2/2+ Modem with Wireless Router (DSL-2640B) is a 3-in-1 device that combines the function of a high-speed DSL modem, wireless G access point, and 4-port Ethernet router. The DSL-2640B supports the latest ADSL2/2+ standards to provide higher performance (up to 24Mbps downstream and 3.5Mbps upstream) and longer reach from your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) Digital Subscriber Line Access Multiplexer (DSLAM).Unlike a dial-up Internet service, a DSL Internet connection is always on so that you do not have to wait to access the Web. Setting up the DSL-2640B is simple since it automatically detects your DSL settings to quickly establish a connection to the Internet. With support for TR-067, compatibility with your Internet Service Provider's (ISP) infrastructure is ensured. This device also supports TR-069, which automatically updates the firmware and other settings when they become available from your ISP.With the DSL-2640B, you can create a wireless network to connect 802.11g/802.11b devices as well as a wired network to connect up to four 10/100 Ethernet devices. Share your high-speed DSL Internet connection, photos, music, videos, printers, and Network Attached Storage (NAS) with multiple users. The DSL-2640B includes a built-in QoS engine that helps prioritize Internet traffic to enable smooth Internet phone calls (VoIP) and lag-free online gaming. In addition, this device includes Dual Active Firewalls (SPI and NAT) to help protect your network from potential attacks from across the Internet. To prevent unauthorized wireless access into your network, the DSL-2640B supports the latest encryption including WEP, WPA, and WPA2.Whether it is for a home user who wants to share high-speed Internet access or for a small office that needs Internet access for conducting essential business activities, the ADSL2/2+ Modem with Wireless Router (DLS-2640B) is the ideal all-in-one broadband and wireless networking solution.

Excellent product! December 4, 2008 Bernardo Fernandez (Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic) I changed my speedstream wireless modem/router to the DLink because i needed to configure some parameters that where not available at the speedstream and it was a great surprise the easy way to configure the first time the ADSL service with this product. All the features are useful. The configuration could be more user friendly but is ok. Recently i bougth another to change a friend speedstream + linksys wireless and the results where excellent. More stability and wireless range. All DLink producs i have bought are quality and a good experience.
Great DSL modem/router August 18, 2008 William W. Myers (Michigan) Purchased to replace old speedstream modem and Linksys WRT54GL router. Setup was a breeze. Setup wizard found AT&T; DSL settings and just worked. Seems faster then the old setup although speedtests don't support that. Has been solid so far. Things to note. Does run hot as other folks have indicated. The wireless range was not as good as the Linksys. Had to add exernal antenna, no biggy. The US firmware is pretty brain dead. However, you can go to the dlink EU site and download the EU english version 4.0. Has more features such as MAC filtering on wireless and static DHCP. Also provides better firewall and port forwarding options. All in all a very good purchase. Especially when it cost less then 79 bucks.
Help desk could not help! July 14, 2008 lyzz 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I spent 1 hour talking to five technicians and they never got it to work. I did eventually get it to work myself.
Terrible customer support July 1, 2008 R. Gemberling (New Hampshire USA) Modem stopped working after about two weeks. Calls to D-Link customer service support result in run around. They blame on DSL provider, but DSL is working fine. It is also very difficult to understand the service representatives as they are not native English speakers and must use poor quality headsets for their calls.
nice product June 28, 2008 J. Hensley (Kansas) I purchased this item to replace a different brand that had been damaged by a storm. It works just fine. I did have a little trouble setting it up, but was able to work out the problem on my own. I would buy another if the need were to arise.
