How much is IPTV?

IPTV technology allows consumers to receive video signals via their high-speed Internet connection. But according to Detecon, deploying the technology for such services, as both AT&T; and Verizon are doing, is going to be expensive.

Detecon, a telecommunications consultancy firm, released research on the cost of implementing IP video services. According to the article What's the Cost of IPTV?, Detecon reported that, depending on whether it's fiber to the home or fiber to the node, it is estimated the average cost per household connection to a network is $1,000. On top of that, it will cost about $500 per household for IPTV solutions, such as a set-top box. Additionally, RBOCs will have to pay about $20 to $28 a month per household.
