The Outdoor Channel Grows Audience With Knology

The Outdoor Channel recently announced a deal with Knology that moves the channel to expanded basic cable in Knology markets serving Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and Florida, and will launch it to an additional new market in Pinellas County, Florida.

According to a recent press release by the company, the move to expanded basic cable has already been completed in some markets, with remaining changes including the new launch to take effect by the end of the year. The deal is projected to add more than 100,000 additional subscribers to the channel's viewing family.

The Outdoor Network is a national television network dedicated to providing traditional outdoor programming to America's 82 million anglers, hunters and outdoor enthusiasts. The Outdoor Channel features approximately 100 weekly programs featuring hunting, fishing and shooting sports, as well as off road motor sports and other related lifestyle programming. Nielsen Media Research estimates The Outdoor Channel's audience, through a combination of cable and satellite dish subscribers, to be approximately 28.2 million homes.

"We are pleased to announce this new launch and moves to expanded basic where The Outdoor Channel provides our subscribers with the most value."

On Aug. 31, 2006, The Outdoor Channel was migrated from Knology's digital to analog service in Columbus, Georgia. The same move is set to take place in Huntsville, Alabama in October, followed by migration from digital to analog in Panama City, Florida in November. Later this year, the channel will move from Knology's digital to analog service in Montgomery, Alabama and will launch to a new market in Pinellas County, Florida.
