Switching providers in Texas has always been worthwhile (saving up to a couple hundred dollars a MONTH), but it used to take up to two months - a painful two months if you were stuck on a high rate plan. But as of August 16, 2009, the Texas Public Utilities Commission made it SO much easier! Switching is now done within 7 business days; the last time I switched, it only took 3 days! It was so nice to start seeing the savings right away!
