Track Down Energy Hogs with a New Gadget

BelkinA few months back, I told you all about Belkin's new Conserve Valet, a charging station that slays energy vampires. Belkin is back again with another green gadget, but this time instead of hunting vampires, you'll be tracking down hogs.

To be released soon, the Conserve Insight will let you play energy detective by instantly displaying the amount of energy any device in your home uses. You plug it in between any device and a wall charger, and it instantly displays how much energy the device is using, along with estimates of cost and CO₂ production. At a glance, you can see just how much any device costs you to run and how much it increases your carbon footprint.

Wonder how much money your fridge costs you each month? Plug it in and find out! Want to know if that new "no waste" cell phone charger is the real deal? Check it! Wonder how much electricity those new CFL bulbs you put in your lamp really save? Put them to the test!

I can see this getting pretty addictive!

The Conserve Insight is available for pre-order now at Amazon for $30.
