To help out in the search for missing children, BellSouth will post AMBER alerts for the nine southeast states in its coverage area on its Web site. The AMBER alerts will appear 24/7 in the "Today's Guide" section on the homepage. They are hoping this highly visible spot will help make people aware of AMBER alerts as soon as they occur.
Missing children experts say that programs such as this one established by BellSouth may even "serve as deterrents to abductions because of the heightened awareness and community involvement in response to the alerts." Read Southeast AMBER Alerts Now Posted on BellSouth's Internet Homepage to find out more about the new program and BellSouth's history of cooperation with the AMBER alert system.
