« Qwest's view on net neutrality | Main | EchoStar, DIRECTV partnership? »

EchoStar has filed and settled lawsuits against three individuals who had allegedly sold piracy equipment via eBay. According to EchoStar, the people violated the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA). Through these suits and other actions, EchoStar is battling "those individuals who try to circumvent EchoStar's security system by manufacturing, importing, or offering to the public, any device that may be used to receive unauthorized programming from EchoStar's satellites."
