Alltel Wireless recently announced an agreement with XM Satellite Radio that will make Alltel customers the first in the United States to have access XM Satellite Radio programming via their wireless phones. The application was developed by MobiTV, the global leader in television and digital radio services for cellular, Wi-Fi and broadband enabled devices.
Alltel Wireless customers will receive audio streams of 20 popular commercial-free XM music channels and be able to select channels by genre. XM will deliver data to make it possible to view the song title, artist and album while listening on a variety of compatible handsets. Alltel Wireless customers can gain unlimited access to select XM radio channels on the XM Radio Mobile service for $7.99 a month.
"Consumers are increasingly eager to access great, commercial-free music on their mobile phones," said Adam Reyer, senior vice president of Business Development for XM Satellite Radio. "XM Satellite Radio will launch its new mobile service to Alltel customers, providing them with access to an assortment of XM's acclaimed music programming on their mobile phones virtually anywhere they go."
