BellSouth and the Communications Workers of America (CWA) have partnered with Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC), based in Macon, Ga., to offer BellSouth employees across the Southeast Cisco® Certified Network Associate (CCNA®) training.

The Cisco Certified Network Associate training program provides participants with a basic understanding of networking. Upon completion of the training, CCNA certified professionals can install, configure and operate LAN, WAN and dial access services for small networks (100 nodes or fewer), including but not limited to use of these protocols: IP, IGRP, Serial, Frame Relay, IP RIP, VLANs, RIP, Ethernet, Access Lists.

"BellSouth is excited to offer CCNA training to employees across our nine states," said Dick Sibbernsen, vice president, human resources for BellSouth. "With the ever-changing architecture of our network, this training will provide BellSouth employees with the technical knowledge they need to effectively maintain and upgrade BellSouth's network."

"CWA recognizes the importance of keeping members trained on evolving technology," said Noah Savant, vice president, CWA, District 3. "This training will provide members an opportunity to learn skills that will help prepare them for future jobs."

CCNA Courses one through four of the program, equivalent to 320 hours of instruction, provide students with a basic foundation in networking. Students who successfully complete this portion of the program are eligible to earn Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification. CGTC offers this curriculum in three program options, including Networking Specialist AAS, Networking Specialist Diploma and Cisco CCNA Specialist. Employees unable to attend classes at Central Georgia Technical College are able to complete courses online anytime, anyplace within the class schedule.
