How to Check Your Prepaid Phone Messages From a Landline

by Todd Bowerman, Demand Media

When you use a prepaid phone, every call whittles away the minutes you have purchased. While this is perfectly acceptable for important phone calls, you may be less inclined to surrender your minutes to simple tasks such as checking voicemail. You can check your voicemail from any landline phone to get your messages without burning your minutes.

Step 1

Call your cell phone number from a landline phone.

Step 2

Wait for the voicemail message to come on, then hit the star or pound key, depending on your carrier's designation.

Step 3

Enter your voicemail password to access your messages.

Step 4

Listen to, save or delete your messages using the same menu options as you would use from your cellphone.
