Jacksonville Electric Authority
Jacksonville Electric Authority (jea.com) is the primary provider of electric, water and sewer services for the city of Jacksonville, consolidated areas of Duval County and other areas in Northeast Florida counties. A minimum $200 deposit is required to establish an electric account with a hook-up fee of $10 or $25, depending on the speed of services required. You may be required to pay a higher deposit if you cannot provide a satisfactory credit history. Telephone contact information for Jacksonville Electric Authority's Residential Customer Service office is: 904-665-6000 or 800-683-5542, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.
Florida Power & Light
Florida Power & Light (fpl.com) is another large Florida electric utility that provides power to portions of the counties around Jacksonville. If you cannot provide a satisfactory credit report, you will be required to pay a deposit equal to the average of two months' electrical power to your residential address. Telephone contact information for Florida Power & Light Residential Service is: 800-226-3545, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Clay Electric Cooperative
Clay Electric Cooperative (clayelectric.com) serves portions of 14 North Florida counties. You can arrange for new service by completing a "Start New Service" online form at the Clay Electric Cooperative website. You must have a valid address within the Co-op's jurisdiction to access the "Start New Service" Web page. You can also get answers to your questions about signing up for residential service by calling the Co-op's main office at 352-473-8000.
Jacksonville Beach Utilities
Jacksonville Beach Utilities (beachesenergy.com) serves the area of Jacksonville Beach. You can complete an application for residential service online at the company website, where you will find information regarding necessary deposits or start fees. JBU will also provide you with a handy new service checklist. For new residential service or billing queries, contact the company at 904-247-6241, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Seminole Electric Cooperative
Seminole Electric Cooperative (seminole-electric.com) provides electricity to parts of 45 Florida counties and is owned by Clay County Cooperative and its partners. According to the company website, Seminole's "primary mission is to provide reliable, competitively-priced wholesale electric power."
