Verizon offers two types of home phone service, standard plans and FiOS Digital Voice plans. Standard plans include unlimited calling, local and long distance and international options. FiOS Digital Voice plans offer high-quality voice calling through Verizon's fiber-optic network. Not everyone is in the service area for Verizon home phone service, so you will need to check with their website for availability.
Standard Unlimited
Verizon offers two different unlimited plans with their standard home phone service. The less expensive plan, Verizon Freedom Value, provides unlimited calling to local, regional and long distance locations within the United States. The more expensive plan, Verizon Freedom Essentials, provides the same features as the Freedom Value plan, but it also includes calling to Canada and Puerto Rico. The Freedom Essentials plan also offers voicemail, call forwarding, caller ID, call waiting and three-way calling.
Local and Long Distance
There are numerous options for local, regional and long distance plans with Verizon's standard home phone service. The least-expensive option is a local plan, in which customers pay a monthly fee to make unlimited local calls. Customers may elect to subscribe to a by-the-minute local calling plan in which they pay for the minutes they use. There is also a local measured service plan in which they go over their allotted minutes. Long distance calling plans are offered at a per-minute rate.
International
Verizon offers three different standard plans for international calling. The Verizon World Plan 300 provides 300 minutes per month to registered phones in more than 100 different countries. You can pay an additional fee for other countries and more minutes. The Verizon World 500 offers 500 minutes of calling to over 100 countries, and the International Choice Plan with City Rates provides calling to more than 250 countries. The rates vary depending upon the country or city.
FiOS
Through Verizon's fiber-optic network, customers can get FiOS digital voice calling from their home phones. FiOS offers HD-quality sound from a reliable network. FiOS boasts more than 20 features, including caller ID, call blocking, voicemail via email, entering multiple phone numbers where callers can reach you and call forwarding. FiOS is available in several different calling plan options, and it can also be bundled with FiOS television and Internet services. Potential customers can check availability on Verizon's website.
