As we dive deeper into the winter season, it becomes increasingly difficult to accomplish tasks around your home. The cold weather can sometimes prevent us from completing easy home improvement projects that would usually be taken care of in the summer.

With that known, there are a few home improvement projects you can complete during this winter season.

Here are a few home improvement projects for you to consider this winter season:

Programmable Thermostat

The bitter cold air can be somewhat of a headache in the wintertime because the inside temperature of your home is dependent upon the outside temperature. Sometimes it’s too hot or too cold and regulating the inside temperature tends to be difficult unless you are in your home and able to adjust your thermostat frequently. This is where a programmable thermostat comes into play. They are usually very easy to install and the energy savings will be beneficial in the long run. They can be programed to switch temperatures between morning, noon and night throughout the duration of a seven day week. This will alleviate the pains of having to manually adjust the thermostat yourself. Save yourself the trouble and purchase a programmable thermostat today!

Closet Organization

Why not enjoy the warmth of your home and start a closet reorganization project. We all have tons of clothes which seem to pile up over time. This is the perfect time to prove to yourself that you do not belong on that show Hoarders and can clean up your act. Start by removing any clothes that are worn out or do not fit you. The local Goodwill or thrift shop will sometimes pay you for certain types of clothes. At the very least you can save the receipt for when you file your taxes at the end of the year. Adding shelving and purchasing plastic containers can help organize your clothes keeping your it neat and clean. Lastly, color coordinating and or categorizing your clothes can help make searching for your clothes easier and more efficient.

Landscaping

Since most plants and flowers tend to die off in the winter, it is a great time to reevaluate what you want to keep in your yard for the upcoming year. Remove any annual plants since they are usually only good for one season. Trim all trees and bushes down to an optimal level since the majority of leaves die off and fall to the grown. Running the leaves over with your lawn mower will turn your leaves into suitable mulch for your plant beds. This will also prevent you from having to bag up all the leaves in your yard. Lastly, you should fertilize your yard with the recommended fertilizer for the winter season.

These are a few home improvement projects you can complete at the start of the winter season. It is time to quit being lazy and be productive!
