Windstream is a local and long distance phone service provider that also offers high speed Internet and digital TV service to both residential and business customers. One of Windstream's most popular add-on calling features is caller ID. This function lets you see the name and number of the caller before you answer the phone. You can add this feature to your phone line immediately with a quick call to the Windstream customer service center.

Step 1

Purchase a home telephone with a digital screen if you do not already own this type of equipment. Most new cordless and corded phones come equipped for the caller ID feature. Without this digital screen, you will not be able to see the caller identification information.

Step 2

Call the Windstream customer service center at (866) 445-5880 between the hours of 7am and 7pm Eastern time Monday-through-Friday, or 8:30am to 5pm on Saturday. The representative will ask for your phone number, first and last name, the last four digits of your Social Security number and your address to verify that you are the correct account holder.

Step 3

Ask the representative to add the caller ID feature to your account effective immediately. You will not have to pay anything immediately because the extra charge will be added to your next bill.

Step 4

Make sure your telephone is plugged in properly and place a call to a friend. Ask if they will call you back to verify your new calling feature is working. Wait for their call to come through and you will see their name and telephone number on your phone's digital display.
