Comcast high-speed Internet provides home and business customers a broadband Internet connection from a cable Internet service. Comcast is re-branding its high-speed Internet and other services as XFINITY. Comcast XFINITY offers Internet download speeds as high as 105 megabits per second, which is more than 20 times faster than a typical dial-up connection. Email, Internet searching and media downloading are faster with higher download speeds.

Local Availability

Comcast is a national provider of Internet, voice and television services. Comcast services require a cable connection to your home or business. You can add Comcast high-speed Internet to your Comcast television service using your existing cable connection. New customers should check Comcast's high-speed Internet page for availability of service in their area. Comcast also has local service offices in many cities and suburban areas that can provide information on high-speed Internet services and availability at your home or business address.

Features and Benefits

Comcast high-speed Internet customers can download movies or television programs. Searching and browsing the Internet is faster than dial-up connections. Pictures, music and other media can be uploaded or downloaded with minimal delays. A cable Internet connection is always on and immediately available. Cable Internet does not interrupt your existing telephone services. Cable Internet service is reliable, with minimal downtime or service interruptions. Comcast high-speed Internet accounts have up to seven email addresses available. Customers have online file storage available for each email address. Comcast offers account security services including anti-virus, file backup and identity theft protection. Comcast high-speed Internet accounts have a high bandwidth limit that 99.5 percent of Comcast customers will not exceed.

Using Comcast Cable Services Simultaneously

Comcast offers high-speed Internet, digital television and voice services over a single cable connection. Equipment compatible with the Comcast network is necessary for each service you use. Contact Comcast for information on required equipment for your services. Comcast provides installation services by local technicians in most service areas. All Comcast services operate simultaneously; you can watch television, surf the Internet and use Comcast voice services at the same time.

Expanding Your Network

Connect your Comcast high-speed Internet connection to a wireless router to allow multiple computers to access the Internet. You can obtain wireless equipment from Comcast or install it yourself using a wireless router. Use password security to prevent unauthorized access to your wireless network.
