WhiteFence, one of the fastest-growing companies in Houston, currently has an opportunity for a motivated individual to join our fast-paced company as a Senior Database Administrator. In this role you will develop database systems that are more complex with full competency and coordinate with users and developers to determine requirements, validates design, and provides tuning. You will analyze designs, creates and implements more complex databases including access methods, device allocations, validation checks, organization and security. This person is ready and willing to take responsibility for the 24x7 operation of a diverse Oracle 10g Enterprise OLTP and data warehousing environment. This person is also expected to maintain and optimize the operation of several mySql and Postgres database. This person will work with database software vendors and external technical support on issues such as software upgrades, problems and potential solutions.
Responsibilities
- Perform database administration functions in multiple Oracle 10g EE RAC environments.
- Perform database administration functions for Oracle instances.
- Apply RDMS patches, and upgrades.
- Create/maintain database objects.
- Administer database security.
- Install DBMS software.
- Perform on-call activities for 24X7 support.
- Analyze requirements and deploy backups for the various subsystems.
- Implement database monitoring tools, procedures and processes.
- Design, set up and maintain transactional, reporting, and development database systems with exceptionally high performance, reliability and scalability.
- Create/maintain documentation of database installations and other DBMS processes.
- Form a close relationship between the software development team as well as other groups within technology.
- Maintain mySql and Postgres DB.
- Lead efforts to consolidate and streamline access to data from multiple sources.
- Responsible for selection and implementation of BI tools and services.
Requirements
· Four-year college degree in computer science, information systems or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
· A minimum of 10 years of experience managing Oracle 10g Enterprise.
· A minimum of 10 years experience with Oracle backup recovery, expert knowledge of rman, standby/Dataguard.
· Oracle certifications (10g/9i) are preferred.
· 5+ years experience with Oracle RAC.
· Knowledge and proficiency in UNIX including Solaris & Linux.
· 5+ years experience with mySQL, SQL Server and Postgres (or a combination of 2)
· 5+ years of experience with data warehousing and utilizing Oracle BI tools setup and administration
· A working knowledge of the tools used to support the system such as shell scripting, and database administration tools.
· Ability to effectively interface with and influence personnel at all levels of the organization.
· Exceptional communication skills.
· Customer service skills in a team environment.
· Must have a flexible schedule being able to work extended hours, nights, and weekends as needed.
