If this is your first time to set out on your own, do you know all you need to know to take care of yourself and your new home? Living in the dorm is one thing but being the master of your own domain is a whole other ball game. Below you'll find some tips that will make your life that much easier.
How do I remove stains from a carpet?
- 1. As soon as you notice the stain rise the area with cold water
- 2. Add a couple of drops of white dishwashing liquid and rub into stain
- 3. Rinse thoroughly with cold water
- 4. Add a mixture of three parts white vinegar and three parts water
- 5. Wash again with soap and water
- 6. Tab up water by placing towel on wet spot and pressing on it gently with your hand
- 7. Remove towel and let dry
How do I remove wax from the carpet?
- 1. Put ice cubes into a metal pan
- 2. Place pan on top of the wax
- 3. Wait until wax is frozen solid
- 4. Remove pan and pick up wax pieces
- 5. Use dry cleaning solvent to get rid of any other residue that might be left
How do I get rid of roaches?
- 1. Make a mixture of half boric acid and either sugar, flour or cornmeal
- 2. Fill small containers like soda lids or small pieces of aluminum foil with the mixture
- 3. Place container where you saw the roaches. They will take the mixture to their nest and eventually die
- 4. Keep mixture away from pets and children
How do I remove stains off cotton clothes?
- 1. Apply cold water to the stain
- 2. Mix one teaspoon of a mild ph balanced detergent (a mild non alkaline non bleaching detergent) with a cup of lukewarm water
- 3. Blot
- 4. Mix one third cup of white household vinegar with two thirds cup of water
- 5. Blot
- 6. Sponge with clean water
