How to Access Internet Providers

by Emilio Alvarez, Demand Media

The number of available Internet Service Providers (ISPs) varies depending on your city, state and country. ISPs are the communication companies that enable users to access the World Wide Web via wireless, copper or fiber infrastructures. Prices and types of Internet connections range from high-speed and DSL to cable, wireless or satellite. The services offered vary from company to company, whether you are interested in having Internet service for your home or hosting a new website.

Step 1

Navigate to a preferred Web page for finding ISP companies, such as internetserviceproviders.org, thelist.com, myispfinder.org.

Step 2

Enter a ZIP code or area code that corresponds to the area where you want to access an ISP. Click "Find" or "Go." A list of ISPs will display.

Step 3

View the list of options and click the ISP that is most appropriate for your needs. Note the ISP company's customer service phone number.

Step 4

Contact the ISP company and ask for further information, such as setup fees or Web hosting in your area.
