The HughesNet satellite service provides Internet access without the need for a cable or DSL modem. Retrieve email sent to you through the Web browser, once you have configured a HughesNet Web page. The procedure requires using the email address given to you by HughesNet when you first signed up for the satellite Internet service. No special software needs to be added to the operating system in order to be able to access your email.
Step 1
Click "Start," followed by "All Applications." Select the Web browser from the pop-up menu.
Step 2
Enter the Web address for the HughesNet website into the address bar at the top of the browser's window. Press "Enter."
Step 3
Click the "Login" link at the top of the website when it appears in the browser. Enter your user name and password into the appropriate text fields in the new Web page that appears.
Step 4
Click on the "Preferences" link on the Web page that appears. Select the "Mail" link. Scroll down until you come to "Fetch Mail." Click the "Add" button that is now visible.
Step 5
Check the checkbox next to "Get mail from this account" in "Status." Select "POP" from the drop-down menu next to "Protocol." Enter "pop.3.direcway.com" in the "Server" text field.
Step 6
Enter your user name in the "Username" text field. Enter your password in the "Password" text field.
Step 7
Enter "110" in the "Port Number" text field. Select "Inbox" from the "Destination" drop-down menu. Uncheck the "Leave a copy of the message on the server" checkbox.
Step 8
Click the "Mail" link. Click the "Check Mail" link to see your email appear on the Web page.
