Comcast is a utility service provider for private residences and businesses. It is also the parent company of many media-based and technology subsidiaries, though most people's familiarity with the company is through its utility services. The company provides a variety of telecommunication utilities and manufactures its own hardware for some of those services.

Where Is Comcast Available?

Comcast service is not available everywhere. Single utility companies can contract entire geographic regions, eliminating competition. To find out whether your home or business is in an area service by Comcast, you can inquire online or by contacting the company over the phone. If there is a Comcast service center in your area, you are in a region eligible for the company's utilities.

What Services Does Comcast Provide?

Comcast provides a variety of television, land line telephone and Internet services which can be acquired separately or in bundles. The company has rebranded most of its services under the name Xfinity. Cable television services are available through set-top cable boxes or Comcast CableCARDs. Comcast also provides mobile and home-based Internet services.

How Do You Start Comcast Service?

You can begin Comcast service online, over the phone or in person. Once a customer service representative has ascertained that you are geographically eligible for service, he will detail which service options are available to you. Comcast has national retail locations in independent locations and within some appliance stores, including Best Buy and Sears.

How Do Customers Pay Their Comcast bill?

Customers have several options when it comes to paying their Comcast bill. They can pay with a check through postal service mail when they receive their monthly paper bill. They may also set up recurring payments to draft automatically from a credit card or bank account. You may also pay the bill in person at a Comcast office, pay over the phone, or pay online. Customers have the option to go paperless and receive their bill electronically through email rather than paper statement each month.
