AT&T; , the country's largest provider of landline telephone service, offers U-verse, a fiber-optic network that connects digital television and telephone service with high-speed Internet access. U-verse utilizes a central "brain" called the Wireless Gateway. All U-verse customers are required to adhere to a service agreement that sets forth the obligations of the customer as well as those of AT&T.;

Principles

The agreement is largely based on four central principles. The first is that AT&T; supports its customers' right to free expression. The second is that customers will receive clear notification of any limitation placed on Internet services by AT&T.; The third principle is that AT&T; will inform customers to the best of their ability about the experience they will have using the service. The fourth is that AT&T;'s Internet access will be provided in discrete, non-overlapping speed tiers.

Pricing and Payment

When you sign up for an Internet service plan with AT&T;, you agree to a specific price and plan, which may include a term of up to two years. The agreed-upon price is valid until you move to another address, the term expires or you drop one or more of the services included in the agreed-upon price. You must pay the monthly fee, installation charges and any other charges accepted upon registration in a timely manner. Charges may be applied to a monthly AT&T; bill or directly to a credit card on file.

Registration and Termination

Upon registration for AT&T; Internet services, you become the holder of a Member Account. You must be at least 18 years old and have a unique Member ID, and you are responsible for all activities that take place using your AT&T; Internet access. If you terminate your plan before your service term is over, you must pay the termination fee associated with your service plan. AT&T; may terminate your plan before the term is over if you engage in illegal activity, violate any of the use restrictions outlined in the Agreement, fail to pay your bill within 30 days of the due date or provide false information to AT&T.;

Restrictions of Use

Use restrictions include, but are not limited to, violation of intellectual property, inappropriate interactions with minors, spamming, interfering with the well-being or freedom of other AT&T; or U-verse customers and publication or dissemination of threatening material. AT&T; Internet service customers are also restricted from reselling, duplicating or exploiting for commercial purposes their membership.
