Fall Energy Saving Tips

As I get ready for the cooler weather to blow on into Texas, I decided to take a look around the house to see how I could save on energy costs this fall. I found some pretty inexpensive way to save money and thought I'd pass on those tips to you all.

Here are some fall energy saving tips:

  • Open the Shades - Leave the window shades open during the day to let the sunshine in to warm your home
  • Put a Coat on the Water Heater - Wrap your water heater with an insulated blanket to reduce heating loss and save money on your energy bill
  • Check the Fireplace - Close the damper when not in use to keep cool air out
  • Seal Any Leaks - Use caulk to seal any leaks around windows and doorways
  • Shower - Take showers instead of baths to save on hot water consumption
  • Unblock Vents and Radiators - Make sure your furniture is not blocking any heating vents or radiator
  • Energy Audit - An energy audit will give you all the information you need to weather proof your home and give you the ultimate in saving money on your energy bill.
