Qwest is a communications company that offers phone service, Internet, and DirecTV channels. There are four main voice programs from which to choose. The plans start at local unlimited calling and go up to unlimited local and long distance calls. As with any electronics device or communications service, your phone service could run into problems, but there are solutions to the most common ones.
Voice mail Problems
Your Qwest voice mail allows you to collect messages when you are away from your phone or are talking to someone on the phone. There are three ways to hear your voice mail messages if you are having trouble retrieving them using one method. One way is to dial "*98" on your Qwest phone. If you are trying to hear your messages from a different phone, you can dial your Qwest phone number and then press "7" when you hear the greeting. The last way to hear your messages is to dial 1-800-669-7676, and then press "1" to get your Qwest retrieval number.
Call Waiting Problems
Qwest phone services include the call waiting feature that allows you to talk to two parties individually. If you cannot activate call waiting for a certain phone number, there may be a solution. To reactivate the feature, dial "*70" on your Qwest phone and wait to hear three tones followed by the dial tone. Dial the phone number of the person with whom you are having trouble connecting, and then hang up the phone.
Phone Jack Problems
Some Qwest phone problems can be attributed to physical issues, such as the phone jack. To solve most problems, unplug the phone cable from the phone jack and plug in a different phone to test it. If you cannot hear a dial tone, you may contact Qwest and use their "Online Repair Ticket" form to request service. Someone from the company will come to your home or give you instructions to fix the faulty phone wiring.
Caller ID Problems
Qwest also offers caller ID so you can see who is calling before you pick up the phone. If you cannot see the Caller ID, you can fix the problem by unplugging your phone and taking out any batteries. Press the Caller ID button five times in a row, and then reinstall the batteries and plug in the phone. This action resets the Caller ID function.
