WhiteFence, one of the fastest-growing companies in Houston, currently has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, motivated, service-minded individual to join our fast-paced company as a Web Application Specialist with web programming and scripting skills to support and extend our existing web-applications and dynamic websites. The ideal candidate must be able to work within Unix and Linux environments, be a self-starter but also capable of working with teams. The candidate must also have excellent analytical and problem solving skills and strong verbal and written communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and maintain web applications, prototypes, and modules
- Play an active role in requirements and design meetings
- Documentation of new and existing scripts and libraries
- Assist and support web design and marketing teams
- Work closely with application development and integration teams
Required Experience
- 2+ years of PHP, Perl, Python, Ruby or other server-side scripting languages
- 2+ years of XML and web services
- 3+ years of HTML, Javascript, CSS, Ajax
- Strong User Experience background
- Ability to learn and adapt to emerging technologies at a rapid pace
- Ability to effectively interface with and influence personnel at all levels
- Exceptional communication (written and oral) skills
- Maintain a high sense of urgency
- Must have a flexible schedule being able to work extended hours as needed
- No travel required
Additional Desired Experience
- Apache configuration, shell scripting, and basic UNIX systems
- CVS/Subversion, Eclipse, Java, XSL and SQL
- E-commerce websites and applications
- Open source web applications and technologies (CMS, forums, blogs, etc)
