Sony's PlayStation 2 cracked the 150 million consoles sold mark in under 11 years. With that many PS2s floating around, the chances are good that if you're a gamer, you're going to have to connect one of these to a television at some point. The prospect of connecting a PS2 to a television that's already receiving cable service may seem daunting, but it's actually pretty straightforward. Most cable connections use a single coaxial cable to send pictures and sound to your TV; the PS2 uses the familiar red-white-yellow RCA ports.
Step 1
Insert the red, white and yellow RCA jacks on the PS2 AV cable into their corresponding ports on the cable television.
Step 2
Insert the other end of the AV cable into the "AV Multi Out" slot on the rear of the PlayStation 2.
Step 3
Turn on the television and the PS2.
Step 4
Change the input source settings for the television -- using the AV, Input or Source button on your controller -- until the PlayStation 2 home screen displays on the TV.
Tips & Warnings
- If your cable box connects to your TV using the RCA ports, you can purchase an adapter from Sony that allows the PS2 to connect to the coaxial port instead.
