Netzero DSL-- direct service line -- is designed to work with your existing home telephone connection. Eligibility for a Netzero account depends upon your geographical location. The company provides new subscribers with a start-up kit that includes a modem, installation software, as well as an antivirus program. It is user-friendly, much faster than dial-up, and will not cause you to miss phone calls while you use the Internet. You can call the help desk at 800-638-9376 if you run into problems.

Step 1

Access the Netzero website. Type your landline telephone number into the spaces provided. Click the large red button that says "Get Started." It will respond by telling you if you are eligible for Netzero DSL in your area. If the response is "Yes", move to the next step. If it is "No", you will need to use a dial-up connection instead.

Step 2

Subscribe to your Netzero service online or purchase a start-up kit from a local store. Plug the modem into the telephone outlet, and either activate the wireless function or plug it into the back of your computer with an Ethernet cable.

Step 3

Call the service number provided with your kit if your service does not activate right away. Follow the technical support staff's directions. You may need to change your IP address or set your computer to DHP. Technical support can walk you through the steps for doing this with your particular computer.
