AT&T; offers a variety of high-speed Internet services, most of which allow subscribers free access to the AT&T; Internet Security Suite, which is powered by McAfee Active Protection technology. Subscribers can install the AT&T; Internet Security Suite on up to four computers and are automatically upgraded at no extra charge each time new versions are made available.

Features

The AT&T; Internet Security Suite provides protection against viruses and spyware by blocking and removing them before they are installed on a subscriber's computer. Additionally, it detects, blocks and removes any existing spyware, adware and tracking cookies. The AT&T; Internet Security Suite protects subscribers from hackers through its Stealth Mode, a firewall that keeps computers visible from individuals targeting specific computers. The security suite also includes McAfee SiteAdvisor, which gives security ratings to websites to prevent users from accessing insecure content.

Eligibility

AT&T;'s Internet Security Suite is available for free to high-speed Internet subscribers with a connection speed of 3 Mbps or higher and AT&T; U-verse customers. AT&T; allows subscribers with a maximum downstream of 1.5 Mbps to access the AT&T; Internet Security Suite for a small monthly fee. At the time of publication, the monthly fee was $5 a month for installation on a maximum of four computers.

Minimum System Requirements

The AT Windows XP must have Service Pack 1 or higher; and Windows Vista must have Service Pack 1 with a Pentium-compatible processor 500 MHz or higher and at least 256 MB of memory (RAM). The AT&T; Internet Security Suite is compatible with all computers running Windows 7. Customers also must access the Internet with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or later, or Mozilla Firefox 1.5 or later. Customers with AT&T;'s dial-up Internet service or Macintosh computers are unable to install the AT&T; Internet Security Suite.

Installation

To install the AT&T; Internet Security Suite, subscribers will have to visit a localization page to get to the support section of AT&T;'s website. From there, customers need to click on an installation link that will create a pop-up window. This window will require customers to sign into their account using their AT&T; member ID and password. From there, customers can make the selection of buying a subscription, which is for customers not eligible for free access, or simply getting their free subscription. Once the selection is made, the software installation will begin.
