DSL broadband Internet is delivered to your home or office through existing telephone wiring. Before you can use it, however, you need to get a DSL modem to convert the DSL signal into something your computer can recognize and use. An Embarq DSL modem is just such a modem, and can be set up with a minimum of fuss.
Step 1
Plug the yellow Ethernet cable included with your Embarq DSL modem into the yellow "Ethernet" port on the back of the modem.
Step 2
Plug one end of the phone cable included with the modem into the gray phone jack, also in the back of the modem.
Step 3
Plug the other end of the phone line into an active phone jack in your wall.
Step 4
Connect the AC adapter to your Embarq modem and plug it into a wall socket.
Step 5
Plug the other end of the yellow Ethernet cable into the Ethernet port on your computer. You should now be able to connect to and browse the Internet.
