How to Sync a U-verse Remote Control

by Vivek Saxena, Demand Media

U-verse is an AT&T; service that provides digital TV, broadband Internet access and mobile phone connectivity to customers all across the United States. Those who sign up for AT&T; U-verse's TV service receive a universal remote control that can be used to control standard televisions, HDTVs, DVD players, VCRs, amplifiers and TV/DVD or TV/VCR combos. You must first sync your U-verse remote control with the device you want to control, however.

Step 1

Turn on the device that you want to synchronize with your remote.

Step 2

Aim the U-verse remote at the device, and press and hold the mode button -- TV, DVD, AUX, for example -- corresponding to device you want to assign it to.

Step 3

Press the OK button while holding down the mode button, and then simultaneously release them both.

Step 4

Wait for all the mode buttons to flash twice, and then enter the values 9, 2 and 2 using the number keypad in under 10 seconds. The previously chosen mode key will flash.

Step 5

Press the PLAY key and then press the FF key repeatedly until the device turns off to synchronize the remote with a television or a DVD player. Press the PLAY key and then press a number key to synchronize the remote with a VCR (1), receiver (2), amplifier (3) or home theater system (4).

Step 6

Press the OK button to save the settings.

Step 7

Press the device's associated mode button, and then press the power button. If the device doesn't power on, then refer to the remote's manual.
