As cell phone usage increases, more and more people are choosing to cancel their landlines and rely on their cell phones to cover all their phone needs. Still, some may prefer the larger buttons and displays and the convenient, family-use setup of their landline handsets while at home. By using a Bluetooth-enabled cellular gateway device to make and receive cellular calls through your home phones, you can take advantage of the economy of your cell phone network while still enjoying the comfort and convenience of your handsets while at home.
Step 1
Place the gateway in a part the house that receives good cell phone reception and that is also close enough to an electrical outlet in order to both power the gateway and allow you to plug in your cell phone charger in the same area.
Step 2
Plug your home phone directly into the phone jack on the back of the gateway using regular RJ phone cable, or if you'd like the gateway to be active through all the phone jacks in the house, connect the gateway to a wall jack after disconnecting the house wiring from the telephone company.
Step 3
Place your cell phone near the gateway. Incoming and outgoing calls are transmitted automatically from your cell phone to the gateway using Bluetooth.
Tips & Warnings
- If you choose to disconnect your home wiring from the telephone company, contact the telephone company first for instructions on how to do this properly.
