Verizon Vs. Time-Warner Packages

by Kelly Smith, Demand Media

Verizon and Time Warner are communications corporations that provide services to residential and business locations. Verizon's primary focus is telephone and wireless phone service, while Time Warner specializes in cable television. To keep up with advancements in technology, both companies now offer a variety of services, including telephone, television and Internet services, as well as bonus features and "double" or "triple-play" packages, in which services are bundled together at a discounted rate.

Verizon

Verizon's home phone services consist of local, long-distance and international calling plans. High-speed Internet options include DSL and Wi-Fi connectivity, and television services are offered through DirecTV. Verizon also offers digital television, Internet and home phone services through its FiOS fiber-optic program. Prices for services and packages vary by location.

Time Warner

Time Warner Digital Cable includes local programming and basic channels, with additional channel packages available. Road Runner high-speed Internet and digital phone services with unlimited local and long-distance calling are also offered through Time Warner's Digital Cable. Prices for services and packages vary by location.

Bonus Features

Both companies offer a variety of bonus features that can be added to their service packages for additional fees. Both of Verizon's television options include high-definition (HD) viewing capabilities and pay-per-view movies and events, and FiOS also offers a TV Online option, which allows viewers to use social media sites and download movies. Time Warner's bonus features include digital video recording (DVR), select cable channels offered in HD, movies-on-demand and 3G and 4G mobile Internet service.
