Systems Administrator

Reponsibilities

  • Develop extensive documentation of all systems and processes involved in maintaining our 24x7x365 production, test, and development environments.
  • Develop, deploy, and configure WebObjects applications (4.5-5.3) and adaptor on Linux/Solaris platforms with Apache 2.0 and 2.2.
  • Use extensive kernel-level knowledge and experience to administer Unix platforms, including clustering, rapid deployments, NFS, DNS, SMTP, HTTP(S), and Veritas NetBackup.
  • Perform network programming in C/C++, including Apache module programming, scripting in Bash, Python, Perl, and PHP, and web programming with HTML, CSS, Javascript, CGI, and PHP, as well as tweaking Java Virtual Machines (1.1-1.5) for multiple platforms.
  • Design, develop, and test networks and security using knowledge of TCP/IP, including packet level analysis, load balancing, SNMP programming, intruder detection and prevention applications such as Snort, and Watchguard firewalls.
  • Perform web analysis utilizing tools such as Analytics and Analog.
  • Perform infrastructure monitoring utilizing MRTG, OpenNMS, Nagios, and TeamQuest. 
  • Use knowledge of RAID, SCSI, SAN, and Fibre Channel storage technologies to design, install, and administer storage area networks, including JMR, Nstor, EMC, Qlogic, and Brocade products.
  • Set up and deploy 64-bit Oracle 10g RAC on 64-bit Red Hat Linux.
  • Administer Mac OS (OS9 and X) platforms.

 Requirements

  •  Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5 years of WebObjects (4.5 - 5.3) development and deployment experience.
  • Experience with Linux/Solaris and Unix platforms, with kernel-level knowledge.
  • Experience with Mac OS (OS 9 and X).
  • Experience with TCP/IP, including packet level analysis.
  • Experience with Unix network programming and Apache module programming in C/C++.
  • Experience with scripting in Bash, Perl, and PHP.
  • Experience with web analysis technology and tools.
  • Experience with web programming with HTML, CSS, Javascript, CGI, and PHP.
  • Experience with intruder detection and prevention applications.
  • Experience with NFS, DNS, SMTP, and HTTP(S).
  • Experience with tweaking Java Virtual Machines for multiple platforms.
  • Experience with storage technologies, including RAID, SCSI, SAN, and Fibre Channel.
  • Experience with Red Hat Linux.
