Comcast Vs. DirecTV

Comcast's service is called XFINITY, and it is possible for customers to subscribe to XFINITY TV, Internet and home phone service. Bundle packages are also available in which customers can get TV, Internet and phone all in one monthly bill, which is cheaper than ordering each service separately. One benefit Comcast advertises is its On Demand service, which allows customers to access movies and television programs on their TV or online at any time.

When subscribing to DirecTV satellite television service, customers receive several benefits. DirecTV offers DirecTV Cinema, a service that provides customers with 400 new release movies, sometimes months sooner than they are available from other providers. The DirecTV Cinema movies are in 1080p HD. According to DirecTV, they offer more HD channels, sports channels and 3D channels than any other competitor.

Three television-only plans are available from Comcast. The Digital Starter plan provides more than 80 cable channels and On Demand service for their least-expensive monthly fee. For a higher monthly fee, customers subscribing to the Digital Preferred plan get more than 160 channels and more On Demand offerings. The most expensive monthly fee for television only plans from Comcast is for the Digital Premier plan, which consists of more than 200 channels.

DirecTV offers television service plans in Spanish and English. Four English television plans are available. The least-expensive plan, the Choice plan, offers more than 150 channels. The Choice Xtra plan provides more than 210 channels, the Choice Ultimate plan has more than 225 channels included and the Premier plan offers more than 285 channels. The Premier plan is the most expensive. Customers can add on DVR service to any of the plans for a monthly fee. HD is included in all but the Choice plan, but it can be added.
