AT&T; U-Verse
AT&T;'s U-verse is a fiber-optic network that connects your television, landline telephone and Internet service through a central "brain" called the Wireless Gateway. It enables secure wireless Internet service throughout your house, without dead spots. Internet service plans are available with download speeds that range from the Pro plan's 3 Mbps (suitable for emailing, social networking and sharing photos) to the Max Turbo plan's 24 Mbps (suitable for video conferencing and streaming video). All plans come with an Internet security suite that includes virus and firewall protection, 10 AT&T; email accounts with virtually unlimited storage and free access to AT&T; Wi-Fi hot spots around the country.
AT&T; DSL
Alternatively, AT&T; also offers wired and wireless broadband DSL service. Plans can be bundled with or without local phone service, with download speeds ranging from 768 Kbps to 6 Mbps. All AT&T; DSL Internet service plans include access to AT&T; Wi-Fi hot spots around the country, an Internet security suite that includes protection from viruses and spyware and 11 AT&T; email accounts.
Comcast XFINITY Internet
Comcast delivers its XFINITY high-speed Internet access to customers over a fiber-optic cable network, at download speeds up to 20 Mbps. All plans include Constant Guard (an Internet security suite that offers protection from viruses, spyware and identity thieves), seven Comcast email accounts with 10 GB of storage apiece, and access to live sports on ESPN3.
Comcast XFINITY Internet 2go
In addition to residential and business Internet service, Comcast also offers XFINITY Internet 2go -- a mobile Internet service that allows you to connect to the Internet wherever your cell phone has coverage. Internet 2go is available with only nationwide 3G coverage or with additional 4G access in major cities. Simply connect the Mobile Broadband device to your computer, and begin surfing the Web. Alternatively, Internet 2go can be obtained in the form of a mobile hot spot, which may connect to five Wi-Fi-enabled devices at once.
