WhiteFence, one of the fastest-growing companies in Houston, currently has an exciting opportunity for motivated individual to join our fast-paced company as the VP- Technology. In this role you will report directly to the CEO.
The VP- Technology will manage network operations, desktop user support, technology projects, remote facilities, telephony and other related IT services. The candidate needs to be able to identify overall business objectives and how those will drive all resource needs for the systems team.
Responsibilites
- Makes strategic recommendations for the IS Department and the Enterprise as it relates to the needs of the department and the strategic vision of the company
- Manages and guides the progress of application development, hardware, networking and telecommunication projects
- Develops and manages the company’s Capital Expenditure, IS related maintenance, and the IS departmental budgets
- Responsible for vendor selection, implementation, management, and production support (and staff) for all corporate IT systems; negotiates all vendor contracts
- Review performance of IT systems to determine operating costs, productivity levels, and upgrade requirements.
- Define and communicate project milestones, service level agreements, and resource allocation to executive team, department leads, support staff, and end users.
- Supports the company’s technical operations by developing and updating policies and procedures related to data center, help desk, telecommunications, acceptable use policies, data networks, security, disaster recovery, and other Information Systems related hardware/software, telecommunications equipment, data backup, virus and firewall, voicemail policy, etc.
- Assist with IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
- Responsible for IT disaster recovery strategy, planning and testing.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Information Technology, Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience (Master’s degree preferred)
- 7+ years directing a high-production IT Department
- 3+ years of experience with modeling systems and capacity planning is required
- 3+ years managing customer support and help desk
- 3+ years budget planning and administration
- 3+ years in a leadership role, including people management responsibilities
- Excellent Project Management and Leadership skills are essential
- Extensive networking knowledge and leadership in performing systems design, configuration, installation, and maintenance of IT systems
- Strong knowledge of Linux, Oracle, MS desktops and servers, Apache, MS Exchange and networking
- Experience with internet technologies, web-based applications and enterprise class software and systems architectures
- Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
- Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
