How to Get AT&T Wi-Fi

AT&T; offers a large network of WI-FI hotspots that certain AT&T; users can access from all over the United States. These hotspots are available only to AT&T; customers who purchase qualifying services and are not the same as the free WI-FI access offered by some restaurants, hotels and other businesses. There are several ways access the AT&T; WI-FI network of hotspots.

Step 1

Purchase high-speed Internet through AT&T.; The broadband Internet services provided by AT&T; include free access to AT&T; hotspots across the United States.

Step 2

Sign up for a qualifying cell phone plan to gain access to the AT&T; WI-FI network on your smartphone. Purchasing the iPhone automatically gives you access to the WI-Fi network. With all other smartphones, you must purchase a monthly data plan that costs $30 per month, as of 2011. This data plan and higher includes WI-FI access.

Step 3

Buy a LaptopConnect with DataConnect plan for your computer. This plan is a mobile broadband plan available from AT&T; that also gives you access to the AT&T; WI-FI hotspots.

Step 4

Check for AT&T; WI-FI hotspots in the areas you frequently visit. If you travel to areas that do not have AT&T; hotspots, you can upgrade to a premium plan that allows access to partner hotspot locations.
