Broadband Internet allows you to download much quicker than Internet connections such as DSL, dial-up and satellite. Broadband connected to a wireless router can connect to Wi-Fi-only devices such as the Sony PSP. The PSP uses a Wi-Fi radio to connect to the Internet, and you can connect that broadband connection you have at home or at the office to your PSP to browse the Internet for free.
Step 1
Select the "Network Settings" on the PSP "Settings" sub-menu.
Step 2
Select the "Infrastructure Mode" option and "New Connection" on the following screen. Select "Scan" to look for the broadband connection using the PSP's Wi-Fi radio.
Step 3
Select the connection name that goes along with your router's name or the ssid name that you gave the router during its prior setup. The ssid name is another name for the public name that is broadcast to wireless devices like the PSP.
Step 4
Enter in the security password for the router on the next screen. Select "Easy" for the address settings. This gives the PSP the ability to automatically configure its address settings.
Step 5
Press the "X" button and the PSP saves the network settings using your broadband router. Press the "O" button to return to the PSP menu.
Step 6
Open up the PSP Internet browser. Select the connection you just configured when asked to "Select a Connection." The PSP is now connected to the Internet.
