S-Video represents a step up in picture quality from coaxial analog cable and composite video with the familiar, yellow plug. The S-video cable plug contains a cluster of metal pins that transmit different elements of the video signal to a connected device, such as a TV, for playback. Many computers and laptops are equipped with a round S-video socket for hooking up a cable to a monitor or TV so you can view the video on a bigger screen.
Step 1
Shut down the computer and turn off the TV.
Step 2
Line up the pins in the plug on one end of the S-video cable with the holes in the S-video socket on the back of your PC tower. Push the plug into the socket.
Step 3
Insert the plug on the opposite end of the cable into the socket on the back of the TV.
Step 4
Press the TV remote control video selector key until the video display from the PC appears on the television.
