After researching, you find that Verizon and Comcast offer you the best choices for possible Internet access. In particular, you want to compare Verizon's wireless plans with comparable plans available through Comcast. Your primary markers for comparison should be available connection speeds, as well as the monthly subscription fees for each plan.
Verizon FiOS Wireless
Verizon's FiOS high speed Internet service provides subscribers with Internet access through an included wireless router. Subscribers can choose from one of three FiOS plans, all with an included wireless connection. Fast, the first plan, offers 15 Mbps download speeds and 5 Mbps upload speeds for $49.99 per month. Faster, the second plan, offers 25 Mbps download and upload speeds for $64.99. Fastest, the final plan, offers 50 Mbps download and 20 Mbps upload speeds for $139.95.
Verizon High Speed Wireless
Should FiOS service be unavailable or unaffordable in your area, Verizon also offers another high speed, DSL-based Internet service. Both available plans offered by this service provide access through an included wireless router. The first plan, called High Speed Internet, offers users 0.5 to 1 Mbps in download speeds charged at $24.99 per month. Their other available DSL connection, High Speed Internet Enhanced, offers different tiers of speed. These tiers are 1.1 to 3 Mbps, 3.1 to 7 Mbps and 71 to 15 Mbps. This plan costs $39.99.
Comcast Internet Packages
Comcast doesn't offer a wireless router with their packages. However, you can turn the connection into a wireless one by using your own wireless router. Their XFINITY Internet service comes in seven available plans. Their lowest plan, Economy, offers 1.5 Mbps download speeds and 385 Kbps upload speeds for $41.95. Next, Performance Starter, provides 6 Mbps down and 1 Mbps up for $49.95. Performance offers download speeds of 12 Mbps and uploads of 2 Mbps at $59.95. Blast! Provides 20 Mbps downloads and 4 Mbps uploads for $69.95. Extreme 50 offers downloads of 50 Mbps and uploads of 10 Mbps. The last plan, Extreme 105, provides downloads of 105 Mbps and uploads of 10 Mbps for $199.95.
Plans Compared
Right away, Verizon has an edge by offering wireless support through all available packages. With Comcast, you must purchase your own wireless router. Comcast does offer a slightly wider variety of plans, with seven available compared to Verizon's two. Both offer plans with fast download speeds, with Comcast's Extreme 105 plan offering the most available speed. Though some price variations exist, cost between equal-level plans between the two providers doesn't vary too widely. Consider making your choice based on available promotions, as well as other features offered by each service.
