Verizon and Comcast both offer home phone service plans with numerous calling features such as caller ID, unlimited nationwide calling and several plan options. Both providers include the option to bundle phone service with other services from the provider, such as television and Internet, with the benefit of monthly savings and one bill for all of the services.

Verizon Plans

Verizon offers Standard home phone plans and FiOS Digital Voice plans. The Standard plans include basic home phone service, and are fitting for customers working with a budget. FiOS Digital Voice plans from Verizon provide calling through a fiber-optic network for superior quality voice service over the Standard plan. More than 20 calling features are included with the FiOS plan. Customers must check availability on Verizon's website to get details information on plans, including rates.

Comcast Plans

Comcast offers two XFINITY voice-only plans, which are the Local Plus More and Unlimited plans. The Local Plus More plan provides customers unlimited local calling and a per-minute rate for long distance. The Unlimited plan includes unlimited local calling as well as calling to the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada. International calling can be added to either plan for additional monthly fees. Several bundle plans are available with XFINITY Triple Play from Comcast, providing phone, television and Internet service. The more expensive plans offer more television channels and faster Internet.

Verizon Features

More than 20 calling features are available with FiOS Digital Voice plans from Verizon. Among these features are caller ID, text or email notifications of voice mail, online account management tools, call blocking for up to 10 numbers, anonymous call rejection and call forwarding. Other features include do not disturb, which allows you to have an automatic message for all incoming calls and locate me, which rings up to three different phone numbers when people call you.

Comcast Features
