A Charter modem is a cable modem developed and released by the Charter Communications. It is a little electronic device that converts the broadband signal streaming along your cable wiring into an Internet connection that can be used by any Internet-capable computers. A difficulty may arise, however, if you also have cable TV service, as the Charter modem must be plugged into an active wall jack to deliver its connection. This typically precludes the possibility of connecting a TV to the same wall jack in order to receive cable TV. However, a device exists that allows you to connect more than one coaxial cable to the same wall jack.
Step 1
Disconnect any coaxial cable connected to the active wall jack.
Step 2
Connect one end of a short coaxial cable to the wall jack.
Step 3
Connect the other end of the coaxial cable to the single "input" connector stud on the cable splitter. The splitter will have a single connector stud on one side and two or more studs on the other side.
Step 4
Connect your two coaxial cables to the two "output" connector studs on the cable splitter; then connect the other ends to the Charter modem and your TV, respectively.
