With so many different electronics products being commonplace, connecting everything can become a chore. To be able to record your favorite television programs from the cable box to your VCR, you need to know how to make the proper connection. The project requires minimal tools and it takes just a few minutes to connect everything together. Plan how you want to set things up before you start, to make to job go quicker.
Step 1
Arrange the VCR, cable box and TV in the location where you want them to be. Keep in mind that you do not want cables lying on the floor where they will be a trip hazard.
Step 2
Connect the incoming cable line to the cable box in the input jack. Tighten the fitting using an adjustable wrench. Connect a coaxial cable to the outlet fitting on the back of the cable box and tighten it.
Step 3
Connect the other end of the cable from the cable box to the VCR input jack on the back of the recorder. Connect one end of the second coaxial cable to the VCR output jack and tighten the fittings.
Step 4
Connect the other end of the output coaxial cable from the VCR to the input jack on the television. Plug the VCR, cable box and television power cords into the electrical outlets. Program the VCR and television according to manufacturer instructions for your brands.
Step 5
Program the cable remote to manage all of the components according to the manufacturer's instructions. Program the VCR to record any shows you wish to watch later.
Tips & Warnings
- You must program most cable boxes to turn on at the time of your show recording. You must turn older boxes on manually.
