RG6 coaxial cable is used primarily for transmitting video signals from one device to another. It is also used to connect cable providers to both televisions and cable modems for broadband Internet, and is perhaps the most common type of wire connection for this application. RG6 coaxial cable comes with screw-on connectors that make it quite simple to connect to any coaxial-compatible device.

Step 1

Examine the device to which you want to attach the RG6 coaxial cable. The connector on the device should be a threaded cylindrical metal stud having a small hole in its center.

Step 2

Screw the RG6 cable connector plug onto the connector stud. Make sure you line up the heavy wire in the center of the connector with the small hole in the center of the connector stud. The wire must go inside the stud to connect properly.

Step 3

Connect the other end of the cable to either another coaxial-compatible device, or an active coaxial wall jack, such as that installed by your cable television provider.
