When you sign up for the AT&T; U-verse wireless Internet service, the company will send you an AT&T; Residential Gateway (RG). The AT&T; U-verse RG device has been configured to work with your home network and your AT&T; account, therefore, there is very little required to set up your Residential Gateway for wireless Internet service. When you first connect to the Internet, you will be prompted to authorize your account, and therefore will need your log-on details.
Step 1
Insert a DSL/phone socket adapter into a phone socket. Connect one end of the DSL cable to the "Phone" jack on the back of the Residential Gateway and the other end to the "DSL" jack on the adapter that plugs into the wall.
Step 2
Connect an Ethernet cable into the first Ethernet jack on the Gateway, and the other end into your computer. You will be able to use wireless after the initial setup.
Step 3
Plug the power cord of the device to an electrical outlet and turn it on.
Step 4
Open an Internet browser on your computer. It will connect to the U-Verse setup page. Confirm the log-on details are correct, change them if they are not and authorize your account.
Step 5
Disconnect the Ethernet cable if you wish and connect via Wi-Fi.
