Cox vs. AT&T

Telecommunications companies Cox and AT&T; provide a variety of services that help their customers connect with the world around them. Both Cox and AT&T; offer Internet, television and telephone services to their customers. AT&T; also offers wireless phone service. Both companies also offer bundles that help customers save money when they purchase a combination of two or more services.

Internet

Cox offers four Internet speeds so customers can choose how fast their connection can download information. Cox's Essential Internet has a download speed of 3 Mbps, its Preferred package has download speeds of up to 18 Mbps and its Premier package has download speeds of up to 27 Mbps. The company's Ultimate Internet package has download speeds of up to 55 Mbps. AT&T; offers Internet services via DSL and four download speeds are available. Basic Internet has download speeds of up to 768 Kbps, Express Internet has download speeds of up to 1.5 Mbps, the Pro package includes a download speed of up to 3 Mbps and the Elite package provides speeds of up to 6 Mbps.

Television

Cox is one of the largest cable television providers in the U.S. Four packages are available with a range of channels. The company's Starter package includes a receiver and up to 40 channels, the Essential plan also includes a receiver and has up to 95 channels. The Preferred package provides up to 236 channels and the Premier package includes up to 270 channels. Each package also includes local channels. AT Xtra, Xtra with DVR and Ultimate. The Xtra plan includes over 210 digital channels. The Xtra with DVR package also has over 210 channels but also includes DVR service. The Ultimate plan features over 225 channels and HD access.

Telephone and Wireless Phone

Both Cox and AT&T; offer home phone services, while AT&T; also offers wireless phone services. Cox offers two different telephone plans: Essential and Premier. The Essential plan includes unlimited local calling and four popular calling features. The Premier package includes unlimited local and long distance calling and all available calling features. Home phone service through AT&T; is available in three packages. The basic service includes unlimited local calling and no calling features, the Choice Plus plan includes unlimited local calling and two calling features, while the Choice Enhanced plan includes local calling and all calling features. AT&T; also offers wireless phone service. Customers can choose from a variety of individual, family, data or prepaid plans.

Bundles

Cox offers three bundles to customers who purchase all three of their services. These bundles include unlimited local calling, Essential or Preferred Internet service and television service with On Demand and digital packs. Four bundles are available to AT&T; customers. Two include two services and two include three services. The Double Packs include either Basic or Express Internet and local calling with or without long distance. The Triple Packs include local and long distance calling, Express or Elite Internet and either DirectTV's Xtra package or wireless phone service.
