In addition to offering cable television, Internet access and telephone service to businesses, Mediacom also offers advertising consulting to target commercial messages to particular demographic groups. South Slope doesn't offer advertising consulting but does offer telephone service, including setting up an 800 -- toll-free -- line. South Slope will also come in and run new cabling for businesses and set up video conferencing capabilities.

South Slope offers high-speed Internet through DSL or fiber-to-the-home service. FTTH offers fiber-optic lines with faster service than DSL. FTTH service runs through the home's cable jack, while DSL runs through the phone line to an external modem. South Slope's service gets up to 40Mbps download speeds, depending on the package you choose. As of June 2011, packages begin at $55 per month for an 18-month contract. Mediacom offers two levels of service: Mediacom Online and Mediacom Max, which operates at 50Mbps with uploads at 5Mbps, using a modem that plugs into your cable jack. As of June 2011, Mediacom is offering high-speed service for $50 a month for the first 12 months of a two-year contract.

Both Mediacom and South Slope offer bundling of telephone with Internet service. Mediacom offers a flat rate of $30 per month for unlimited nationwide calling if you bundle with both cable television and Internet; as a standalone, it's $50 per month. As of June 2011, South Slope doesn't advertise rates online.

Mediacom offers several levels of cable television service. The basic service is called Family Cable, competitive with most providers' basic level of channel choice. Add-ons include digital quality, on-demand programming, upgraded digital quality, high-definition service and digital video recording service. As of June 2011, new customers can order cable with the digital upgrade for $50 for the first year of a two-year contract or bundle it with high-speed Internet for $80 per month with the same contractual requirements. Adding telephone service to the first package would make it $90 per month and to the second package $110 per month.
