Comcast and Cavalier Telecommunications serve similar states in the Northeast, the southern United States and Washington D.C. Telephone Service
As of July, 2011, Comcast telephone service offers different plan options, each of which offers unlimited long distance calling to the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. International calling options are available. Telephone add-ons are available and vary by plan, such as call waiting, voice mail, call forwarding and receiving messages through email. Cavalier offers unlimited local and long-distance calling to the United States, Canada and all United States territories. Twelve free calling features are included in calling packages. There is no cost from Cavalier to switch phone services from another company.
Television Service
Comcast offers different packages to best fit individual situations. As of July, 2011, television packages include movie channels, local channels and options such as music channels. Cavalier offers access to over 210 high definition channels in their DirecTV Choice Extra program, which requires a DirecTV satellite dish in addition to Cavalier service. Cavalier guarantees all local channels as well as movie channels and a 99.9 percent signal reliability rate.
Internet Service
Comcast offers internet service with speeds up to 15 megabytes per second as of July, 2011. Receiving the highest speed requires the purchase of the Powerboost program. Comcast includes computer protection with Internet packages and offers users up to seven email accounts. Cavalier offers speeds up to eight megabytes per second. The hardware is supplied by Cavalier and includes a free modem, a free self install kit and free broadband content.
Bundles
As of July, 2011, Comcast offers separate bundles to lower the price of home entertainment. The Internet, television and telephone package includes all three services. The combined services are bundled with different options to give customers a choice between bundles and prices. Cavalier offers a similar package with Internet, telephone and television. Cavalier additionally offers Internet and telephone packages as well as Internet and television packages.
Technical Support
Comcast and Cavalier offer technical support twenty four hours a day. Both companies offer chat lines with an employee for general questions. Comcast offers message boards where other customers discuss the Comcast service. Both companies provide toll free numbers and email addresses for customer support.
