How to Get Comcast to Bring Cable in a New House

by Jennifer Bornes, Demand Media

Comcast is one of the leading cable television providers in the United States, with a customer base numbering in the millions. Along with cable television, Comcast offers high-speed Internet, digital phone service and bundles in which a combination of these services is provided for a set monthly cost. To check whether Comcast is available in your area, call Comcast customer service or visit the company's website (comcast.com).

Step 1

Use the Internet to order Comcast services. Visit www.connectmycable.com to order new Comcast cable television service online. You will need to provide the address for the connection site. Once you have entered your address, you will be directed to a page that shows pricing for Comcast services along with competitors' services and pricing in your area. Choose your preferred Comcast service offering, enter any other personal information requested and click the button "Submit My Order."

Step 2

Purchase Comcast service with a phone call. Dial 1-866-942-1341 to speak with Comcast customer service. You will need the address of the location that needs service. The customer service representative will ask you which service or bundle of services you wish to order.

Step 3

Whether ordering cable service via telephone or Internet, you must set up an appointment for a Comcast service technician to visit your address and set up service. Service set-up could take as little as an hour, or as much as a few hours, depending on the services ordered and the wiring and boxes that may need placement in your home.

Tips & Warnings

  • Research the products that Comcast offers in your area. Decide if basic cable or a bundled service including phone, television and Internet is right for you and your budget.
  • Whether ordering new service online or on the phone, keep records of the services you choose and the price quoted. Check your first month's bill to be sure you are charged the correct amount.
