Cox Communications is a broadband Internet and cable TV provider and also offers home phone services. As of December 2010, it's the fifth largest multi-channel video programming distributor with 4.9 million customers, according to the National Cable and Telecommunications Association. Cox Advanced TV offers you choices for content and equipment that include digital video recorders, On Demand, premium channels, high-definition transmission and commercial-free digital music television.
On Demand, FreeZone
Cox Advanced TV offers On Demand access, which lets you select and watch movies, sports programs, specials and television series at your own convenience. If you're not home to watch your favorite program and you forgot to record it, click to your On Demand channel program to see if the show is available and play it. You can also pause, rewind and fast-forward the program just as you would your regular recorded or live programs. Your On Demand feature also includes FreeZone, which offers thousands of free programs from networks such as VH1, NFL Network and A&E.;
HD, TV Caller ID
Cox Advanced TV provides dozens of programs in HD, including shows broadcast on ESPN, CNN, National Geographic and Discovery, as well as the four major local networks. As a subscriber to Cox Advanced TV, you also receive TV Caller ID, which displays incoming phone calls on your television so you can decide which calls you want to answer. It also lets you access your call history log and allows you to answer a call from your seat on the couch. To receive this feature, your phone must have caller ID.
On-Screen Guide, Music Choice
If you lose your TV guide or you don't feel like flipping through it to find a channel, Cox Advanced offers an interactive on-screen program guide that lets you search by theme or title using your remote control. This feature also lets you set reminders for your favorite shows and allows you to program your television to automatically change the channel when a favorite show comes on. For music lovers, Music Choice offers a 24-hour digital music channel with no commercial interruptions.
Packages
Cox Advanced offers three packages as of June 2011: Advanced TV with 204 channels, Advanced TV Preferred with 269 channels, and Advanced TV Premier with 313 channels. All three packages offer On Demand access, Latino Pak, free HD, access to pay-per-view sports; access to premium channels such as HBO, Showtime and Starz; and Music Choice. The Advanced TV Premier package also includes a Movie Pak, Sports and Information Pak and Variety Pak, which is optional on the Advanced TV Preferred package and not available on the Advanced TV package.
